This post’s title was inspired by one of my favorite songs by Wakey Wakey of the same name. The beginning stanza goes like this:

“Clinton Street girl/She’s got the world on her shoulders/She’s got a light in her eyes/Clinton Street girl/Knows famous artists like feelings/She knows when she’s wrong and she lies.”

For some reason that image really resonated with me as an urban girl living and learning in a tumultuous world that doesn’t always make sense. And to me that image fit well with this outfit. The leather shorts and ruffled shirt are a combination of worldly edge and a naive sense of girlhood that I feel are married in the image of the Clinton Street Girl.

I love the sassy vibe of this pleated faux-leather skirt, and these leopard print heels. I love the way leather and Tiffany blue look together and adding that girly pop of print at the bottom completed the look perfectly.

Guilty Pleasures

One of my biggest guilty pleasures is chocolate. I have zero self restraint when there’s Hershey’s in the house, and fortunately, there always is. As my readers know, my other big guilty pleasures are shoes and clothes, especially pretty dresses. Well, who says I can’t have them all?

This dress is actually my old prom dress, I’ve been dying to re-wear it!
