I hate it when people say “it’s a man’s world” but lately the controversy about abortion legislature is making me lose faith in the world’s ability to accept women as equal to men. We haven’t suffered through thousands of years of patriarchy to be told that we don’t even have control over our own bodies. Anyway, that’s a discussion for a different kind of blog. In this outfit I was trying to use the androgynous trend to express an equality between the sexes.

I’ve got to admit, bustling around Boston in four inch heels, meeting deadlines for the magazine, living off of Starbucks, styling photo shoots and cramming my calendar with appointments has got me feeling very grown up. But while I was home I decided to get back to my childhood roots. I styled an outfit full of playful colors and prints that merged both my not-so-long-ago days of coloring and make believe with my current life in Boston. And what better place to reconcile the two than a playground?

I love this color combination, it’s playful and chic at the same time. And any shoe with a five inch heel and a platform is an A plus in my book.

A Woodsy Welcome

I always joke around with my suitemates that I live in the woods because I’m from New Hampshire. So for these photos I decided to pose in the woods that are so characteristic of my hometown. These were taken right in my backyard. I’m posing on a lean-to that my brother and I made when we were kids. I’m amazed that it’s still standing after all the storms we’ve had.

I’ve got to tell you, four inch heels are not the ideal footwear for trekking through the brush.

This is the sort of backdrop I have to work with here, so get used to seeing lots of trees over the next month!

Finals week is upon us and I’ve been holed up in my suite studying all week. Fortunately, I’ve been able to avoid the customary finals attire. My roommate got me a gorgeous robe for our Secret Santa. But as it turns out, something like this is far better suited to lounging around eating chocolate and reading high brow novels than studying for an exam.

As you can see I’m not getting much work accomplished.

Ugly Sweater Season

Tis the season…for ugly sweaters! The volunteer organization I belong to held an ugly sweater party to raise money for a local drug rehabilitation center. We had live music, food donated from great places, raffles and of course, an ugly sweater contest. The turn out was great and it was a ton of fun. Thanks to the talented photographer, Jamie, for taking our photo!
