Alas, my will power is not what I thought it was! I have succumbed to the lure of the blog. And a tumblr at that. Ah well, I guess I’m a conformist.
For quite a while now I’ve been following fashion blogs and thinking it would be really cool to write one. Not because I’m a fashion expert, because this is in no way true. But more to use it as a motivator. I figure if I start a fashion blog I’ll be forced to put more effort into my outfits because I know I’ll be posting them. What kept me from creating a blog for so long was the commitment. I figured after the week long initial excitement over having a blog wore off I’d slack off and end up posting once a year or something silly like that. (That’s been the unfortunate fate of so many of my journals!) But here I am starting one all the same.
Another reason I didn’t start one for so long was because I was worried I couldn’t keep up. I don’t have a lot of exposure to the fashion world so I assumed my outfits would seem trivial next to some of these other bloggers. But when it really comes down to it, I’m doing this to get myself to experiment with fashion and the blog is merely the motivator to make me do it. I in no way claim to be an authority on fashion. So there’s my disclaimer for future reference.
Speaking of disclaimers, the pictures of me or my friends/relatives are mine. Anything else I have no rights to.
The blog is called “Trends and Tolstoy” because reading is one of my biggest passions in life. Excuse me for that blatant cliche, but it’s true. So to keep this from being solely a fashion blog I want to write about books as well. Reviews, recommendations and general thoughts. Again, this is just for me to have somewhere to put this, I’m in no way an authority on literature. I just love it.
Well! It appears the required first blog post is complete! Wish me luck on my fashion & literary endeavors 🙂
