Cold Weather Tips & Tricks

WinterDetails2

As a born and bred New England girl, I’ve always had to consider the weather in my fashion choices. And in the winter, that can be very tricky. I have a few go-to tips to survive the cold weather while still looking stylish.

WinterDetails1

 1. Hats. I know it sounds obvious, but wearing a hat also comes with the inevitable  danger of hat hair. To avoid this I usually size up in knit hats like the one I’m wearing above. The extra room is barely noticeable and keeping the hat just a little looser will greatly reduce the chance of hair damage.

2. Smart Phone Gloves. These are a godsend. I live by an above-ground T station and taking your gloves off to use your phone in the winter is a death sentence. The gloves come in a variety of weights and fabrics, I even have a leather pair. They don’t have to break the bank either, I got this pair at TJ Maxx for just $10.

 3. Boots. I chose a leather moto boot instead of the more traditional (and often less attractive) rubber boots. Winter boots don’t necessarily have to be an L.L. Bean or Sorel version. These keep the water and cold out without looking clunky or silly. I pack heels or flats in my bag for safe keeping.

It’s hard to stay stylish when temperatures are perpetually dropping and boarding the bus requires leaping snowbanks. But don’t give up! There are simple, stylish ways to look your best even at New England’s worst.
