There’s something about classic black-and-white hollywood movies that still seems so glamorous. The drama and romance of noir films from the ’40s and ’50s still get me every time. When I started brainstorming this shoot I knew I had two options. In these movies there are always two types of girls, the good (and usually helpless) woman, and the femme fatale. It wasn’t a difficult decision.
I styled the dress with classic pumps and a veiled fascinator, because I never turn down the opportunity for a good veil.
My friend Tau, the Sam Spade to my Brigid O’Shaughnessy, styled a classic trench with a shirt and tie for that ’40s detective look.
None of us actually smoke so we bummed this cigarette off a tour guide in period dress. We weren’t the only ones around from a different time!
This shot feels so Rear Window to me, fortunately we didn’t witness any murders.
Big thank you to Tau Zaman and Jenni Heller for shooting this with me in the 20 degree weather!
