Often I find it’s the little things that get me through a busy week. Between Art New England, the blog, a few adult ed classes I’m taking and my attempts at a personal life, I’m perpetually swamped. But a few little luxuries can give me the extra push I need to make it through.
Since being diagnosed with a stomach ulcer last year, I haven’t been able to drink much coffee. Going from six cups a day to none was not easy and I still crave it especially on long days. Fortunately my stomach is starting to heal so I’m able to drink a cup once or twice a week. I cherish those sips so much more now that I know what it’s like to go without!
I always have flowers in my apartment. They make the space look much homier and more lived-in. On Sundays I go to the SoWa open market and pick up a bouquet from the farmers market. It’s a small way to brighten my space and my time there.
Newspaper
It’s a rare moment when I can take a break from my to-do list and read the newspaper. I allocate most of my reading time to books but I like to stay up-to-date on current events. Typically I read the art, travel, metro, and nation sections but occasionally I’ll scan business if there’s a compelling article.
How do you get yourself through a busy week?
