Beauport Hotel, Gloucester

April 11, 2018,
by Celina[zilla_likes]

It may not seem like it, but spring and summer are around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about warm weather getaways. Last weekend Elissa of Style Wire and I spend a night at the Beauport Hotel in Gloucester. It’s a beautiful property and less swarmed than the Cape or Martha’s Vineyard. Plus, Gloucester is just an hour away on the commuter rail.

Gloucester has an industrial history, and still serves as the hub of an active fishing industry. That means all the fresh oysters your heart desires! It also boasts a strong arts community, drawn in by the scenic oceanside beauty. Gloucester and Cape Ann have inspired artists and writers from Fitz Henry Lane (a native you can find in the Cape Ann Museum) to Rudyard Kipling and H.P. Lovecraft. It’s not hard to understand why the volatile beauty of the area struck inspiration in so many creative hearts.

Located directly on the beach, the Beauport has large, beautiful rooms and a bar and restaurant with ocean views and outdoor seating. Many rooms come with a waterfront terrace where you can sip your morning coffee with a view. If you’ve had your fill of laying on the beach, the hotel offers a stunning rooftop pool and hot tub, a fitness center, and in-room massages. Plus WiFi is complimentary (and super speedy) so you can ‘gram every step of your luxurious stay.

The interior perfectly merges a classic seaside feel with contemporary design elements. Often New England interiors can go so heavy with the starfishes and boat imagery that it veers into kitsch. The Beauport was just the right amount of nautical, and just the right amount of chic. The roaring fireplaces in the rooms and common areas were a wonderful, cozy touch for our still-chilly April getaway.

Sometimes the best part of getting away is snuggling up in a hotel room and binging on naps, television, and room service. If you’d rather stay in bed, ordering in is extremely affordable, the full breakfast I ordered above was only $12, for eggs, bacon, toast, and home fries. Almost all order-in dinner options were under $30. The plush beds, spacious in room desk, and enormous bathrooms lend themselves to slow starts and sleeping in.

The hotel is walking distance to almost everything in the downtown area. It’s a pleasant stroll to local restaurants and shops. Beauport Hospitality also owns Seaport Grille downtown so you can get the same level of quality on and off the property. The Beauport offers a free shuttle anywhere in a 3 mile radius of the hotel so you can enjoy a night out without worrying about getting home.

It’s only been a few days since we checked out and I’m already dying to go back! Gloucester and the Beauport are a must-add for your 2018 travel list.

Please note: we were provided with a complimentary stay at the Beauport, however, all opinions expressed are my own. Thank you for supporting the businesses that support Trends and Tolstoy!
