I live for the carry on bag. Despite my interest in fashion I like to pack light and stay mobile when I’m traveling. I partnered with MM.LaFleur to illustrate how conscious packing and outfit planning can keep your luggage light. With just five items, I’ve made a week’s worth of stylish outfits. Even better, MM.LaFleur emphasizes quality so every item is made to last with durable, comfortable fabrics.
MM.LaFleur makes easy-to-wear professional clothes for the busy woman. They focus on items that are stylish without thought. MM recognizes that contemporary women are insanely busy. Their clothes allow you to look amazing without spending hours in your closet. As an on-the-go journalist and frequent traveler, I love having stylish options at the tip of my fingers.
One of my favorite things about the brand is that they service a wide size range, from 0P to 3+. Their clothes also service a variety of needs, from a capsule wardrobe to a frequent traveler, everyone can benefit from easy chicness.
For my packing list I chose a matching set with the Kait Top (here) and the Lenox Skirt (here), the Suzanne Dress (here), the Lagarde 2.0 Shirt (here), and the Windsor Trouser (here).
The Suzanne Dress was the item that made me fall in love with MM.LaFleur. The silk blend feels like butter on your skin, and with a tie waist it’s super comfortable. The best part is this item does double duty. You can wear it as a chic dress tied shut or open as a light layered jacket. Dual purpose items are essential when it comes to efficient packing. Also: it has pockets.
Matching sets are another of my favorite packing hacks. Instead of one dress, you get three outfits. A dark, small pattern like this one is easy to mix and matching with other items and colors. You can see in my first image how I paired the Lenox Skirt with the Lagarde 2.0 Shirt. It’s the ease of a dress and the versatility of a skirt and top.
Here I styled the Suzanne Dress in an additional format by tying the Lagarde 2.0 Shirt over it. Layering is another easy way to make the most of your wardrobe. I often put another skirt or shirt over a dress to make it seem like a different clothing item. You could similarly pair another skirt over this dress to make it appear like a pink top.
You can see how this look is more casual and beachy while the Suzanne dress on its own could err more professional and urban. You can create very different looks with the same clothing item.
Here I illustrate how the Suzanne dress can be worn open as a jacket. I paired our ever-versatile Lagarde with these amazing satin pants, but you could just as easily use the Kait top to make another outfit.
MM.LaFleur also offers a stylist service called the “Bento Box.” You fill out a brief survey and a stylist puts together 4-6 items for you to try. They get shipped to you and if you like them you can buy them and if not you just ship them back with the included label. It’s not a subscription service so you don’t have to deal with monthly fees, just another on-your-schedule way to make your life easier.
I was a little nervous about having a stylist pick out clothes for me because I have very specific opinions about what I want for my wardrobe. A lot of MM.LaFleur’s stuff is also very professional which isn’t necessarily my vibe. It turned about to be a great experience. My stylist Emma picked out a bunch of pieces for me that I never would have chosen, but loved. The designs are versatile enough to go to an office or an art show.
These are just a few of the outfits you can make with these five items. I’ll continue to showcase MM looks throughout the summer.
Please note: I was provided with complimentary clothing from MM.LaFleur for review purposes. All opinions expressed are my own. Thank you for supporting the businesses that support Trends and Tolstoy!
