Traveling Abroad with Baggallini

September 12, 2018,
by Celina[zilla_likes]

One of my biggest challenges in preparing for my pilgrimage to Russia was choosing a bag. Security is high so you’re not allowed into big national sites with a backpack. But I needed to be able to carry my camera equipment and essentials. Pick pockets were also at an all-time high in the wake of the World Cup so security was a concern as well.

The Baggallini Kuala Hobo Bag saved me. It’s rapidly become my favorite purse for traveling abroad. It’s big enough to carry a lot without looking bulky. And you get that signature Baggallini balance between functional and chic. As a bonus it comes in an array of neutral colors to match any outfit. This is the only bag I used for two weeks in Russia and it worked with everything I wore.

On a daily basis I carried my DSLR and an extra lens in the purse with no difficulty. I loved being able to pull it out, snap a few pictures, and put it back easily. I also had my wallet, travel journal, pens, mobile chargers, and phone. The purse is made of the same durable nylon as my Baggallini backpack. Though leather might be more sophisticated, the nylon means your bag can withstand any weather elements. I also carry a backpack on the plane so the nylon construction allowed me to roll this purse into my luggage with no damage to it.

In terms of safety this purse is top notch. The tightly woven straps resist cutting and the crossbody style keeps your valuables safe from a fly-by grab. The purse has both a flap and a zipper to get into the main compartment, double the work for a pickpocket. Plus there are a ton of hidden pockets for stashing valuables.

The main flap unzipped into a deep pocket which went all the way down into the back interior of the purse. That’s where I kept my wallet. There’s also a slip pocket on the backside of the purse where I kept my phone. It was easy to grab but pressed tightly against me to avoid theft. Even that front twist clasp pocket can’t be accessed without lifting up the main flap. There’s really no quick way for a pickpocket to slip in and grab anything.

I’ve never had a problem with pickpockets before in any of my travels. But it never hurts to be prepared! Part of the reason I’ve always kept my valuables safe may be because of my choice of bags. I head off on my next international adventure next month and you can bet this is the purse I’ll be bringing!

Please note: this post was sponsored by Baggallini, however, all opinions expressed are my own. Thank you for supporting the businesses that support Trends and Tolstoy!
