Reporter Roundup

July 24, 2019,
by Celina[zilla_likes]

I can’t believe it’s almost August. Where does the time go?! As always I’ve been busy reporting on arts and entertainment here in New England. These are some of my favorite recent pieces.

BrooklineHub

2019 is the 50-year anniversary of the JFK Birthplace Museum in Brookline. I always forget that the former president used to call Coolidge Corner home!

I recently covered one of Brookline’s many adorable town traditions: appointing a fifth grader as Police Chief for the day. It’s just as heartwarming as it sounds.

Bay State Banner

Members of Girls Inc. in Lynn worked with local jewelry company Hearts on Fire to design their own line. It gave them incredible experience in all areas of the industry. Talk about girl power!

I previewed a spectacular work-in-progress dance piece about the colonial relationship between Puerto Rico and the mainland United States. Really powerful, beautiful stuff.

There’s a spectacular new set of murals at the Underground at Ink Block street art park. I chatted with a few of the artists about the inspiration behind their walls.

Exhale Lifestyle

I had the pleasure and privilege of interviewing the doctor behind the Body Worlds exhibit. Turns out you can find romance and career satisfaction amidst corpses.

I interviewed a public insurance adjuster about her job and learned a ton. She’s also one of the only women doing the job in Massachusetts.

Women artists are still not celebrated on the same level as men in the art world. So I picked out a few lesser known pieces by women to view at the Museum of Fine Arts.
