Now that I have more time on my hands I’ve been able to focus more on my sewing projects. It’s a perfect quarantine activity because it’s productive but also creative and fun. I’ve been making alterations to my clothes for years by hand but without a machine my options were limited. For my birthday last year my family all chipped in to get me a sewing machine and some starter supplies. And now I have the time to dive into some from-scratch projects!
My mom has been teaching me some of the more advanced techniques (she’s a master seamstress) and I’ve been working on easier projects on my own. Right now I’ve got a few dresses, a matching skirt and top set, and some shorts in the pipeline. As someone who has always felt guilty for not being productive, this is the perfect leisure activity for me. I enjoy it immensely and at the end I’ve made something usable.
