Somehow it’s fall already? COVID-19 is making time feel especially bizarre this year. The year is almost over and yet no time has passed. But despite the weird times we’re living in I’m DELIGHTED to welcome fall, my favorite season. Finally we can wear layers, sip hot beverages, and buy fresh notebooks (even if we’re no longer in school). Here’s how I plan to make the most of it.
Apple Picking
I’ve been apple picking pretty much every fall since birth. It’s one of those New England traditions that you just can’t shake. This year, especially because of the nice fall weather, I’m really excited to go. I have the perfect plaid flannel picked out already. Not to mention any tried and true apple picker knows it’s really about the apple cider donuts you eat at the end.
Afternoons at Vineyards
Thanks to my sommelier and wine blogger friend Toni I’ve been at a lot of vineyards this year and it’s turned out to be an amazing social distancing activity. A scenic property, a few glasses of wine, a chunky sweater, some good friends and it’s a perfect afternoon. I look forward to discovering vineyards all over New England!
Cozy Evenings In
There’s something about the cooler weather that makes staying home in the evenings completely luxurious. I like to light a few candles, cook a nice meal, and curl up with a new book. This year I’ve even splurged on some fancy teas to really maximize the coziness.
A Fresh Theater Season
The arts have really taken a hit during the pandemic. Typically fall is my busiest season with multiple events every night as the arts community comes back from its summer hiatus. Although things are significantly less vibrant right now, many theaters are debuting their new seasons online or using other virtual programming to keep audiences engaged. I miss the live experience terribly but I’ll take any excuse to see my favorite local actors perform again, even through my computer screen.
