Today Trends and Tolstoy is ten years old.
A whole decade has passed since a self conscious teenage Celina sat at her computer and decided she had something to say. Or at least something to wear. When I launched this site I was ambitious, well-read, and deeply commitment to extravagant fashion. I was fortunate to already know that writing would be my task in life. But I was also insecure, impulsive, still in the youthful position of finding myself and my stability.
Trends and Tolstoy has provided me with many material benefits, press trips, complimentary clothing, access to a lifestyle I could never otherwise afford. But more importantly it’s given me a space to grow into the woman I have become, a more mature and self actualized version of the girl talking circles through her first blog post.
There have been challenges along the way, but I won’t dignify them with discussion today. Today I am grateful. Grateful to my family and friends who have cheered me on, even when this pursuit seemed frivolous and self serving. Grateful to the brands that have worked with me and the artists that have allowed me to tell their stories.
Today I will celebrate this milestone exactly the way I started it, by reading a long Russian novel in a fabulous outfit.
