There’s nothing like a seaside getaway to kick off summer travel and Madison Beach Hotel in Madison, Connecticut has all the trappings for ultimate relaxation. Calm sets in from the moment you step onto the property, an elegant resort situated on a stretch of private beach right on the Atlantic Ocean. In fact, this is Connecticut’s only beachfront boutique resort and spa.
What struck me about this hotel is the magnetic force it seems to have on the people who interact with it. Many of the employees had rich histories at the property, summering there as a child or getting married on site. It seems like once you have experienced Madison Beach Hotel it’s in your life forever.
The interior is flooded with light and features a classic New England aesthetic. Many of the rooms boast these balconies overlooking the beach and the ocean, an ideal place to sip your morning coffee. Inside, the accommodations feature soaking tubs and electric fireplaces for coziness year round.
The amenities on site are phenomenal. Guests can take yoga classes on the beach or in the light, bright yoga studio off the fully furnished gym. I love being able to take some of my regular gym classes while traveling.
The spa provides relaxing services of all kinds from body scrubs and mud wraps to massages for solo travelers, couples, and pregnant women. The atmosphere was soothing and the staff are experienced and professional. I had the hot stone massage and it was the most relaxed I’ve been during the crazy last five weeks of travel.
Visitors have a few different options for dining. On warm summer nights, dining facing the ocean on The Porch can’t be beat. It’s a beautiful spot to kick a night off with a few cocktails. Inside you’ll find the more formal restaurant, The Wharf, and the accompanying Wharf Bar.
Both venues feature a menu designed by Chef Mo Jalil, a talented culinary artist originally from Israel. Jalil has designed the menu around the fresh-off-the-boat seafood available in the area. The summer menu features Tuna Tartare and a Crab Timbale that make dreamy warm weather appetizers. Don’t miss the B.L.A.S.T. Lobster B.L.T. for lunch or the Ciopinno seafood broil for dinner.
The true test of a good oceanside chef is whether they can serve up non-traditional seaside fare as well as the typical lobster roll. Jalil demonstrates his mastery with the herb crusted rack of lamb, a savory paradise in the saltwater setting.
Oftentimes vacation doesn’t really translate to relaxation. It means planning and mapping and prepping. It means the hurdle of getting to a new place altogether. And then the stay itself flies by and you find there hasn’t been a moment to exhale. At Madison Beach Hotel every opportunity for relaxation is presented to you with silver spoon service and a smile.
Please note: I was provided with a complimentary stay and services by Madison Beach Hotel, however, all opinions expressed are my own.
