Inside My Bag

Black, Compact, Headphones, Inside My Bag, iPhone, Leather, Lipstick, Notebook, Pen, Purse, Wallet

I often get asked what essentials I carry in my purse as a blogger and a fashionista. To be honest, what I carry in my bag varies depending on where I’m going and what I’m doing. But for this post I pared it down to the things that I absolutely always have with me.

insidemybag1) This is my go-to purse. I bought it at the leather market in Florence a few months ago, and it has quickly become my favorite bag. It’s big enough to carry what I need for most occasions but small enough not to be intrusive. The cross body style also keeps my hands free and uninhibited.

2) I always carry a notebook and pen with me. I am a lover of lists. To-do lists, outfit lists, shopping lists, everything. It keeps me organized and stress free. Having a notebook is also great for sketching outfit ideas on the go.

3) My mom bought me this compact during my first trip to Paris. It’s a nice momento of both our trip and my favorite city. It’s so convenient to be able to check my hair and makeup before I go into a meeting or a job interview. This way I can make sure I always look pulled together.

4) I do a lot of commuting into Boston from my family home in New Hampshire, so these headphones are a must. Even when I’m living in the city, I like to have music when I’m walking or riding the subway. It keeps me happy and motivated during that sometimes tedious commute.

5) Like most people these days, I absolutely cannot live without my iPhone. Whether I’m making calls, answering e-mails, instagramming for my Sunday Snapshots, or editing a blog post, my phone allows me to take care of everything no matter where I am.

6) Obviously the wallet is an essential part of anyone’s purse. I like this long pink one because it doubles as a clutch for evening, and has plenty of slots for business cards I pick up during networking events.

7) I don’t wear a lot of makeup but when I do it’s important that it stays in place all day long. For that reason, I always carry with me whatever lipstick I’m wearing so that I can touch it up throughout the day.

So there you have it, an inside look at my daily essentials. Whether I’m running to a meeting or having lunch with friends, these are the things that I always take with me. What essentials do you keep in your bag?

I’m obsessed with this vintage maxi dress I picked up in Florence, and Barcelona was the perfect launching pad for the breezy, bohemian look I had in mind.

I snapped these photos at Gaudi’s famous Park Güell, a garden complex with architectural details designed by the master himself.

I paired the maxi dress with my color blocked leather jacket, flats, and my favorite jeweled headpiece.

Accent Pieces, H&M, Leather, Sheer, Suede Wedges

In this outfit I used two totally different materials for a base, faux-leather shorts, and a silky button down. Then I added accent pieces like the gold belt and necklace, and the rich pink wedges. The base was a great start but it was the accent pieces that really made the outfit.

Thank you to my Aunt and Uncle for these shoes! I’m so in love with them!

I bought this vintage velvet jacket at a thrift store and embellished the collar myself. I love mixing the texture of the jacket with the smoothness of the faux leather pants.

Argentina, Boston, Chinatown, Graphic Tee, Leather

Normally I’m not one for graphic tees but when my family in Argentina sent me this tank top I instantly loved it! Something about the neon colors and relaxed fit made it stand out to me.

I took these photos in Chinatown near South Station. I always see this mural on the bus ride home and thought it would be cool to photograph there.

Muchas gracias a Firu Diaz para la camiseta fabulosa! Me encanta!

Boston, Boston Common, Bright colors, Christian Siriano, Leather

Lately I’ve been loving all sorts of bright and pastel blues. From the uber-trendy mint to the classic Tiffany-box blue, it’s all I want to wear! This skirt caught my eye because it’s almost like a brighter version of the Tiffany blue. I can use it for more refined outfits like this or experiment with color blocking when the weather gets warmer.

Of course I had to pair it with my latest love- my new moto jacket. I don’t know how my wardrobe survived without it.

I submitted this outfit for the Emerson College Style Contest on twitter and it won!

Boston, Lace, Leather, Prudential Center, Trends

I finally wholly succumbed to the leather trend by buying a pair of faux leather pants. They worked really well with a loose tee and these amazing lace booties for a casual day at the Prudential.

How gorgeous are these shoes?! I love them! Lace, bows, booties, the best of all worlds.
