I planned my outfits for my trip to Santa Fe very carefully. Knowing Southwestern style and culture are so dramatically different from that in Boston, I did my research. I wanted to prioritize texture (leather, suede, denim, metal) and accessories (hats, scarves, boots). Unfortunately no one mistook me for a local, my high-strung East Coast demeanor is a dead giveaway. But I did end up with some fantastic looks!
I paired this dainty, floral dress with heeled leather booties and a dark hat for a more rugged vibe. From what I learned of New Mexico history, even the ladies had to be tough to survive.
