2018 was an incredible year for me, especially in travel. I wanted to go back through the places I’ve been to be grateful for all the experiences I’ve had, and in case you missed any. These are the big trips I took each month, although there were some smaller getaways in between. Let’s hope 2019 has just as many magical destinations in store!
January
Willemstad, Curacao
Located just off the coast of Venezuela, Curacao is the land of beaches, ostriches, and Chichi dolls. I loved this less touristy Caribbean destination. Check out my travel guide here.
February
Savannah, Georgia
Next I fled the Boston winter with a few days in Savannah, Georgia. Between the historic homes and the surprisingly avant-garde contemporary art scene, this is an incredible weekend getaway. Read my travel guide here.
March
Santa Fe, New Mexico
March took me and my brother to Santa Fe where we hiked 11 miles to the hot springs you can see below. We also saw some incredible art, toured Georgia O’Keeffe’s house, and ate some of most delicious mole ever. Read my travel guide here.
April
Gloucester, Massachusetts
A wedding brought me to the Beauport Hotel in Gloucester in April. The former industrial seaport is really up-and-coming with lots of cool historic spots and waterfront seafood restaurants. Read about my experience at the hotel here.
May
Chicago, Illinois
As the spring went on I accompanied a friend to Chicago. She had a work conference and I got to explore more of the art scene in the city. Plus we had an amazing sunrise breakfast at the Willis Tower Skydeck. Read about my experience here.
June
The Berkshires, Massachusetts
After the luxury in Chicago I headed to The Berkshires for a girls getaway with my mom, aunt, and cousin. We stayed at the most beautiful inn and had a fun-filled trip vintage shopping, museum-going, and visiting Edith Wharton’s home. Read all about it here.
July
Saint Petersburg, Russia
In July I finally made the pilgrimage to Russia starting with Saint Petersburg. I went to several stunning churches, a ton of palaces which I’m ready to move in to, and a few sites from Dostoevsky’s novels. Read about my experience here.
August
Moscow, Russia
From there I went to Moscow where I toured the urban business hub. We went into the Kremlin, to Red Square, and sort of by accident to the trendy Patriarch’s Pond neighborhood. I also took a detour to Tolstoy’s house in a small village outside the city and cried a million happy tears. Read about the pilgrimage here.
September
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
In September I visited my grandparents outside of Philadelphia. My grandfather is an artist so we worked a little bit in his studio and went to a local art museum. And, of course, my grandmother and I did a little shopping.
October
London, England & Lisbon, Portugal
A few months after Russia I jetted across the pond again to visit a childhood friend in London. From there we spent a weekend in Lisbon gorging on natas and taking in the beautiful tile-decorated streets. Read about London here, Lisbon here, and Sintra here.
November
West Hartford, Connecticut
To de-stress before the holidays my mom and I headed to The Delamar West Hartford for a few days of spa treatments and champagne. We ate at some spectacular restaurants and toured a house designed by one of the U.S.’s first female architects. Read my travel guide here.
December
Cape Cod, Massachusetts
I wrapped up an exciting year at the Cape Codder Resort during their holiday celebrations. I went with a friend from my old job and it was a great bonding girls getaway. Read about the trip here.
