Bend and Snap

The moment I saw this romper I thought of Elle Woods, heroine of Legally Blonde and, frankly, cultural icon. There are not a lot of movies from the early 2000s that hold up to our current standards, especially in terms of political correctness. But Legally Blonde really does.

For the uninitiated: Elle Woods is a sorority girl with a wild love of pink in California. Her boyfriend Warner (scum of the Earth) dumps her before heading to law school at Harvard because he says she’s not serious enough. He implies that she’s hot but stupid. This is what everyone assumes. Offended, she applies and gets in to Harvard. Turns out Warner is engaged to a WASP-y mean girl.

Ultimately Elle works really hard and becomes a talented lawyer who wins a huge case despite the trash men around her. Warner’s fiance dumps him and becomes friends with Elle (a huge win considering the typical cat fighting dynamic in movies). And Elle finds love with a guy who actually respects and supports her. But the romance is not the point of the story, the point of the story is her being an awesome, powerful, fun-dressed woman. You can see why I relate.

Not only does this Femme Luxe romper have that Elle Woods power, it’s super comfortable. I’ve always been fond of a one-piece like a romper or a jumpsuit because your outfit is done in one easy step. Because it’s such a bold look I kept the accessories simple with a gold pendant necklace and nude flats and bag.
